About this event

  • 5 hours

Christ. Culture. Critical Theory.

The current state of our world seems destined for chaos. How did we get here and does God's Word have anything to say in response? When social norms are upended from our grandparents' day, how do we make sense of this? Are there patterns? What's the context for all this change? How as Christians do we navigate these strange times?

Come hear Dr David Filson and Dr David Garner speak on Critical Theory and the Doctrine of Man. God does have something to say to us and we can take confidence that it is a good word for our time.

"To Christ despite all we hold" and have for close to 100 years at Westminster Theological Seminary. By the end of our time together you will be informed but more than that, deeply encouraged that God's ways and plans for our generation have not failed.

In equipping the church in Middle Tennessee with this event we also seek to introduce WTS to a new generation of seminary students who may not realize that seminary education is available remotely through our online program. Dr Filson leads a large cohort of students locally and we are expanding this program to provide comprehensive theological instruction to more students.

More information can be found online at www.wts.edu. Come join us and find out more in person.

Frequently asked questions

Where at the church is the event held?

The Fellowship Hall. The closest parking is to the left of the sanctuary and education building as you drive up the hill. Look for the covered entrance and enter there. Registration will be inside the double doors.

Is food provided?

We have coffee and water during the event. Chick fil a chicken minis, granola bars, fruit at the start. For lunch we have an assortment of boxed lunches with a variety of sandwiches, chips, and a cookie. When you sign up early, it helps us prepare and not run out!

Will there be breaks?

Between each of the sessions we have a short 15 minute break for you to stretch, get books at Logos' book table, and visit.

Will the event be live-streamed?

This is an in-person event only.

Will the event be taped?

There will be an audio recording and most likely a video recording. These will be published by Westminster Theological Seminary on their YouTube Account.

Are there scholarships available for students?

There are a limited number of scholarships available for full time enrolled college students. Please email events@wts.edu for more information.

If I would like to be more involved with WTS in Nashville, are there any opportunities?

Yes! We have a variety of ways WTS has a presence in Nashville. Seminary on Saturday is twice a year and relies on donations to underwrite the cost of the event. A large cohort of online students meets monthly with Dr Filson. Degrees are found at www.wts.edu/community-life/online-experience.
