Q. Do Tuition-Work Program earnings count only for tuition?
A. Yes. Please note, that if you are recieving a full scholarship that covers all of your tuition, the Tuition-Work Program would not work for you.
Q. How are students compensated?
A. Tuition-Work Program participants will log all of the time worked in the seminary's online time-keeping system. They will then be able to view their accrued hours worked, compensation earned to date, and tax deductions on a semi-monthly basis in their seminary payroll accounts. At the end of a seasonal quarter, this information will be forwraded to the seminary's Student Accounts Manager, who will reduce each Tuition-Work Program participant's tuition due by the amount of compensation they’ve earned.
Seasonal quarters:
Winter: January 2nd – January 31st
Spring: February 1st – May 31st
Summer: June 1st – August 31st
Fall: September 1st – December 23rd
Q. Can new students apply?
A. Yes. However, new students will need to have submitted their deposit before they can apply and, before they can begin a job, they will need to have registered for classes.
Q. Does the Tuition-Work Program continue in the summer?
A. Yes. Many positions on campus need student help throughout the year, including the winter term and the summer.
Q. What happens if I work in the summer but then am not able to take classes in the fall?
A. We will hold your tuition credit for you until you are able to return to classes.
Q. What benefit does the Tuition-Work Program provide to students?
A. The Tuition-Work Program is a good way for students to help pay for their tuition, so that they are less reliant on other sources of funding such as credit cards, government loans, personal income (including savings), and family support. An additional benefit is that many of the jobs work around class schedules and don’t require driving off-campus for work, saving travel time and fuel costs.
Q. How is a job within the Tuition-Work Program different from a paid position?
A. The main difference is that, instead of receiving a pay check twice a month, students earn credit towards a future term's or semester's tuition.
Q. How do I find out about open positions?
A. Open positions will be posted online in the Tuition-Work section until they are filled. Occasionally, students may also receive an email about available positions.
