International Students on J-1 or F-1 Visa Status
Greetings from the Office of International Students!
The Office of International Students is responsible for the general welfare of international students at Westminster Theological Seminary. We are here to answer your questions and help you with any problem that you may have. We serve as a resource on immigration matters and our staff can assist you with problems concerning your social and personal adjustment to life in the United States and other personal matters and concerns. To introduce you to the services and programs in the Office of International Students and to make sure you enter the U.S. in proper status, we ask that you bring your passport and immigration documents to check in with us when you arrive on campus.
International students on J-1 visas are advised to arrive at least one month in advance of the beginning of their classes to allow sufficient time to settle into a new culture, including locating housing, obtaining a driver’s license, and opening a bank account. Due to immigration requirements, students on F-1 visas may not arrive earlier than one month prior to the beginning of classes, but they are advised to arrive as soon as they are legally permitted to do so. For dorm housing, early arrival must be pre-arranged with the Student Affairs Office.
Our best wishes for a successful stay at Westminster Seminary and do let us know how we can be of assistance to you.
