Preaching Conference Recap

Cure for the Boring Sermon
Thank you to all who participated in the 2011 Preaching Conference, including speakers, staff, students, alumni, and local pastors. We had a turnout of over 360 participants, one of the largest in history! Rev. Kevin DeYoung delivered inspirational messages on Leviticus 1 and Mark 15, and he lectured on the key to passionate pulpit sermons with the power to penetrate hearts.
All audio from this conference is now available through the Westminster Media Center. Click "FULL STORY" for the audio and to see pictures from this event.

World Reformed Fellowship

Promoting Reformed Partnerships Worldwide
Recently, Westminster welcomed back the Rev. Dr. Sam Logan, former president of Westminster, to talk about his role as International Director of World Reformed Fellowship (WRF).
Dr. Logan spoke with a group of Westminster faculty, staff, and students about WRF's history and core projects. He is greatly encouraged that through the Fellowship, many Reformed believers from different countries and backgrounds are able to come together and work for the expansion of God's kingdom throughout the world.

Note from the President

Highest MDiv enrollment ever at Westminster’s Philadelphia campus
Westminster is pleased to report that its MDiv enrollment, at 243, is the highest number ever in the history of its Philadelphia campus, surpassing the 220 high mark of 2006. This comes after discontinuing campus locations in Dallas and NYC. We are blessed with this growth but realize it stretches us in terms of space, faculty and other needs. We ask that you stand with us as we continue to serve our core program.

The Growth of Westminster's Library
Westminster's Montgomery Library now holds more than 143,000 volumes and provides access to many electronic resources. However, it had humble beginnings. Click "FULL STORY" for an article by Rev. Arthur Kuschke from the March, 1958 Alumni Bulletin which recounts some of the library's early history.
"It is notorious in many other institutions that the faculty are of small value in building up a library. The matter has been just the reverse at Westminster."
Join the staff of Montgomery library this month as we continue to celebrate Theological Libraries Month.

Publisher Description: Social justice and mission are hot topics today: there's a wonderful resurgence of motivated Christians passionate about spreading the gospel and caring for the needs of others. But in our zeal to get sharing and serving, many are unclear on gospel and mission. Yes, we are called to spend ourselves for the sake of others, but what is the church’s unique priority as it engages the world?
DeYoung and Gilbert write to help Christians “articulate and live out their views on the mission of the church in ways that are theologically faithful, exegetically careful, and personally sustainable.” Looking at the Bible’s teaching on evangelism, social justice, and shalom, they explore the what, why, and how of the church’s mission. From defining “mission”, to examining key passages on social justice and their application, to setting our efforts in the context of God’s rule, DeYoung and Gilbert bring a wise, studied perspective to the missional conversation.
Readers in all spheres of ministry will grow in their understanding of the mission of the church and gain a renewed sense of urgency for Jesus’ call to preach the Word and make disciples.
