Partner with us in Prayer

By the time you read this our Summer Hebrew students will be sitting in the classroom. For some of them this is their first Westminster class. These new students and the beginning of summer semester represent the great privilege Westminster faculty and leadership have to bring a unique and rich heritage of kingdom service together with marvelous new opportunities for future Kingdom-building.

As you know, however, Kingdom-building is a Spiritual endeavor. This is no less true in the seminary than in your sphere of service. We need the presence and power of the Spirit to make our teaching, our leading, and our resource management effective for God’s purposes. So I invite you to partner with us in prayer for God’s help in stewarding this year for God’s glory and the good of the nations in Christ. Would you take five minutes as you read this newletter and each day this week to pray for Westminster? Pray today for our summer Hebrew students. Tomorrow pray for our faculty, the next day pray for our leadership, and the next pray for our resources. I invite you to “help us by prayer” by spending five minutes a day over the next few days “so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.” (2 Cor.1: 11)

Please let us know how we can pray for you and your ministry. Remember, the alumni office is always here to help. Never hesitate to call or email anytime we can be of help.

Partnering with you for kingdom purposes,

Rev. John Currie_signature

Letters from the Front

“ ... it may be a surprise that in the First World War Machen chose not to fight as a warrior. Instead he regularly risked his life in embattled France as a humanitarian non-combatant serving with the YMCA ... This volume rounds out our understanding of Machen the brilliant scholar by also revealing him as a servant of Christ to needy and suffering soldiers.”
- From the foreword by Peter A. Lillback

Publisher's Description: Never before published, here is a glimpse into the formative years of a great campaigner for the faith ... and a stirring example of how the faith of a seminary professor was refined and strengthened through the trials of war.

Westminster Alumnus Barry Waugh (MAR '80, MDiv '81, PhD '02) adds commentary and footnotes to provide essential guidance for fully understanding Machen's service and ministry.
