A biblical understanding of wisdom prevents us from separating knowing and doing, learning and practice. Wisdom unites the facets of knowledge, character, and skill. Mentored Ministry is designed to bring these facets of ministerial formation together under the supervision of an experienced mentor.
Ministry Preparation Commitment
As part of the first course in practical theology, all M.Div. Pastoral and General students along with MAC students are required to complete a Ministry Preparation Commitment in which they commit themselves to involvement in a local church, the completion of mentored ministry assignments, and the pursuit of personal growth in grace. This contract unites the Seminary and the local church in providing opportunities, support, and encouragement for students as they prepare for ministry. Progress in the completion of the commitments made in the Ministry Preparation Contract is monitored through an annual interview with the Dean of Students. Click here for the MDiv Ministry Preparation Commitment and the MDiv Counseling Ministry Preparation Commitment forms, which are to be submitted for the completion of PT111 Orientation to Ministerial Formation.
The Mentored Ministry page on Courses is where you will find all the essential materials for getting started in your mentored ministry responsibilities as a student or a mentor. There, you will also be able to upload required documents, receive feedback, and track your progress.
The following pages serve as a short guide for students and mentors and provide a number of former student testimonies of their ministry experiences.
