Jonathan Chong Jin Na

M.Div., Pastoral

Hometown: Warminster, PA
Denomination: PCA
Career Goal: pastoral ministry
Hobbies: sports, movies, travel

“I came to know Christ through my parents, who are in the ministry,” explains fourth-year M.Div. student Jonathan Na. “As a PK [preacher’s kid] I have my ‘issues’ but the Lord has been gracious! I fully committed to surrendering my life the summer after my freshman year.”

Jonathan’s ultimate goal is pastoral ministry, but first, “I want to grow in my affection for Christ so that my life illuminates that to others.” During his junior year at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he earned a B.A., he sensed God’s call to full-time ministry and decided he would pursue seminary after college.

“My father attended Westminster for his Ph.D. studies and he urged me to attend this institution as well,” Jonathan says. “I followed my dad here while he studied, so this place has become like a second home.” He particularly appreciates the counseling, Old Testament, and preaching classes in his program. Among the lessons he’s learned are “it’s not all neat and clean,” so we must exercise “humility in approaching Scripture.”

In addition to his involvement at Jubilee Presbyterian Church in Conshohocken, Jonathan is also active on campus as president of the Korean Student Fellowship. He plans to graduate in the spring.
